A school appears here because at least one of its animation degrees — a bachelor's or master's dedicated to animation or with an officially named animation pathway — is verified on the school's own pages with its structure, culminating project and admissions materials. The supporting degrees are listed under each school, so you can see exactly which programs earned the inclusion. Other programs at the same school are not implied to share their resources, costs or requirements.
How to use this list. Start from the specialization you want and the degree you need. A school with a well-documented BFA in character animation may offer a very different graduate experience, and the reverse. Compare the graduation project (individual film or team production), the portfolio each program asks for, the software and computer requirements, and the published costs beyond tuition. The equipment and software comparison separates tuition, institutional fees and equipment costs.
What we do not use. Reputation surveys, alumni credits, studio partnerships, festival selections, acceptance rates and placement figures are not part of this selection: they are not published in comparable, verifiable form, and they say little about whether a given program fits a given applicant. A famous institution is not assumed to be best for every animation discipline, and the reputation of one program is not transferred to the rest of its school.
