Data Sources and Verification
Where the facts come from, how they are checked, and how they are kept current.

Sources we use
- Program facts — qualification titles, specializations, teaching languages, curriculum, capstones, admissions materials, deadlines, tuition, fees, equipment and software costs and funding — come from each school's own pages: program and department pages, catalogs and module handbooks, admissions pages, tuition tables, funding pages and equipment or software guides. Pages in the original language of instruction are the primary evidence; quotes are stored verbatim in that language.
- Institutional identity (official name, address, institution type, parent institution) comes from the school itself and, where available, the national register of higher education institutions of its country. Registers differ by country, so we record which source each fact came from.
- Recognition is recorded from official registers and the school's own accreditation pages, as separate levels: institution recognition, degree-awarding authority, program accreditation and national qualification level. We never transfer one department's accreditation to another program, and memberships are not accreditation. See how recognition is verified.
- Images. Logos and campus photographs come from Wikidata and Wikimedia Commons, matched to the school by its Wikidata identifier, under free licenses with credit shown. We do not use stock photos of generic studios as school facilities. See image credits.
- Other directories, rankings and forums may help us discover a candidate program, but never establish a fact.
How a program is researched
- Discover a candidate (for example from a national register listing, an official program catalog or a school's own animation pages).
- Confirm the exact award and title on an official page.
- Confirm eligibility and identify official concentrations.
- Verify delivery and attendance requirements.
- Extract admissions and portfolio instructions, item by item.
- Extract tuition, fees and equipment and software costs, each with its currency, basis and year.
- Extract deadlines with year and intake as printed.
- Record recognition as published, level by level.
- Extract funding components and named awards.
- Save every source URL with a verbatim quote, deduplicate, then publish.
Verification
A script re-fetches each source page and searches for the stored quote. Only facts whose quote is found on the live official page (or that an editor has confirmed manually) are shown. Pages that block automated access are not worked around; facts from them are left unverified and the gap is recorded. Facts older than twelve months are flagged for re-verification.
The catalog was last regenerated on 2026-10-29.
Known limitations
- Some national registers and school sites are published only in the local language or block automated access; their programs may be missing or have fewer verified facts.
- Many schools do not publish equipment terms, software costs or stipend amounts. We show these as not published.
- Deadlines are often printed without a year; we keep the printed text and do not assume the year.
